The GridTO recently posted an article highlighting the fact that Liberty Village is now a go-to furniture shopping destination. With the imminent arrival of EQ3, we can now add one more furniture store to the ones which have recently opened or been here for years.
Liberty Village truly is a great destination for those looking for a piece to spruce up living spaces or bedrooms. We have some great places to shop and we would like to share some of our favourite spots:
Steve Vasconcelos’ soaring showroom is a one-stop shop for people looking for high-end or high-fashion flooring. The studio is packed with samples of Floor Studio’s proprietary lines of flooring made of new materials such as bamboo, vinyl, laminate and cork, and reclaimed options like antique planks salvaged from a variety of local sites including farms. New at the studio, a wide selection of oiled natural woods available in oak and ash, in a variety of cuts and finishes, can be found. We love the wire-brushed, herringboned and extra-wide planks.
One of the original furniture “pioneers” of Liberty Village having set up here in 2003, Casalife now has condo-dwellers flocking to the open-concept showroom in the Liberty Market Building for sustainably-made multi-purpose furniture with style. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful and will help you navigate through the myriad of dining table, couch and bed options. Styles can range from the high-tech to the classic and all are functional.
Owned by the same American company as Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma, Liberty Village’s West Elm has been a hugely popular household furnishings destination since 2009. Also attracting many local condo-dwellers for their storage beds, sectionals and console tables, West Elm offers lots of affordable furniture basics and accessories. Their styles are eclectic and will appeal to a wide variety of tastes. We are fans of the Aid to Artisans collection which includes accessories from around the world.
EQ3 will be opening it’s doors as the newest addition to Liberty Village in the summer of ’12. Firmly rooted on King East for the past bunch of years, EQ3 will offer Liberty Village shoppers modern furniture that doesn’t break the bank. With a focus on space-saving designs (evident in the Core Collection of customizable wood beds and headboards). They also include popular European lines like Alessi, Vitra, Sagaform and our favourite, the Herman Miller Eames Elephants.
