We are loft lovers. Lofts are near the top of the list of things we like the most, right next to Liberty Village.

For years we have been attracting other loft lovers from across Toronto and beyond because of our extensive knowledge of Toronto’s finest loft buildings.

Lofts are tied to the heritage of our city. They evoke the former industrial heritage of the city, which is particularly relevant to the history of a neighbourhood like Liberty Village.

At Liberty Village Toronto,  we receive a lot of enquiries from people looking for information about the lofts in this great neighbourhood. For the purposes of this post we will feature Liberty Village’s truly authentic loft building, the Toy Factory, and Liberty Village’s newest loft addition, the Liberty Market Lofts.

The Toy Factory Lofts, being a true loft conversion, offers characteristics that loft-lovers have come to expect – space, air and light – in a structure that originally dates back to the turn of the century.

The Toy Factory Lofts was converted by Lanterra Developments and designed by Quadrangle Architects. A lot of the original structure’s most impressive characteristics were left intact including the thick brick walls, steel ceiling beams and Douglas fir posts. Being a historical landmark, The Toy Factory Lofts has no equivalent in Liberty Village. The 215 loft units offer buyers an inherent exterior beauty as well as spaciousness and simplicity in its suite interiors.

Completed in 2013, Liberty Market Lofts is a purpose-built, soft-loft at 5 Hanna Ave. It is an innovative architecturally-designed 14 storey loft building, by award-winning Toronto architect Rudy Wallman (Ten York, Lumiere, Bisha), interior design by Union 31, built by Lifetime Developments/BLVD Developments.

The lofts themselves are a mix of one-storey and two-storey suites. The two-level lofts not only provide dramatic ceiling heights (up to 17’ ceilings) and a maximum amount of light, but also enable you to zone your bedroom separately from main-floor living and work space. Because these lofts have a live-work designation, they can be used for a home business as well as for purely residential purposes.
