There have been a few notable business closings in Liberty Village as of late and although it is often a sad topic for us to cover, we are warmed by the thought of new businesses moving in.

In case you have not noticed, Walking on a Cloud has closed down at 61 Hanna Ave, next to The Running Room. It looks pretty certain that a Rogers Store will be opening up in its place.

Also recently closed is Ideal Mattress, at the corner of King St W and Atlantic Ave. after many years of service. There are rumours circulating that the insanely popular east and north-end Burger Priest could be eyeing the Ideal Mattress location. We are sure that this would please a lot of Liberty Village employees and  residents. So far it is just a rumour.

A few store-fronts south of Ideal, Smoke’s Poutinerie will be opening soon next to Liberty Shawarma.

For those of you who have frequented some of the larger farmer’s market’s around town, you may be familiar with Monforte Dairy and their artisanal cheeses. They have just opened a retail outlet at 125 Jefferson Ave.

The recent closing of Kingwest Fitness created a lot of stir and generated a number of reader comments.

I believe that Live Organic Raw is moving into the spot formerly occupied by Ideal Mattress, not Burger Priest.
