The City of Toronto has a strong passion for burgers and that culture certainly carries through Liberty Village. Among a slew of healthy alternatives, there still sits a unique range of classic burger choices, ranging from the old school to those taking on a new form. Burger-wise, there’s plenty to choose from in the neighborhood. There’s no reason not to give a few of these Liberty Village strongholds a try. All of these options are praiseworthy, smacking with flavour, and all stay true to what a burger should be. Bon appetit!

Checking out the reviews online, it is more than apparent that Merci Mon Ami may not only have the best burger in Liberty Village but potentially one of the best burgers in Toronto. Wednesdays are the only days when you can find the burgers on special though. If it does happen to be a Wednesday where you’re at, take a walk down and enjoy their homemade, juicy burgers. They are easily comparable to what one might find at Burger Priest or any of the other burger-specific restaurants that are found across the Toronto area.

Mildred’s Temple Kitchen – 85 Hanna Avenue

The world-famous MTK is something to behold. Is Mildred’s offering the best burger in Liberty Village – some certainly say so. At this point, it’s near a right of passage for any Liberty Village resident to give the MTK a taste. This is a handcrafted burger topped with tomato relish and crispy tobacco onions served on a homemade bun. Any time that lists are written on the best burgers in Toronto, Mildred’s Temple Kitchen always comes up and there’s a reason for that. Super juice and cooked to a perfect medium rare, the MTK is something that you have to taste to really get a sense of all of its charm. An expertly crafted burger, this might hold the trophy for truly the best one in the neighborhood.

School Bakery & Café – 70 Fraser Avenue

The ‘Bully’ Burger from School.

School Bakery & Café might not be the first place you think of when you think of where to grab a burger but their output is quite tasteful and very popular among the lunch crowd. Their bacon cheddar cheeseburger comes with tomato jam, garlic pickles, roasted kale, and sriracha mayo. Well worth the purchase price and the Ontario russet fries that accompany the dish are also a homerun. If you’re looking for a lunch atmosphere and some other alternative non-burger menu options for others in your party, School is the place!

Williams Landing – 120 Lynn Williams Street

There are three burgers currently offered at Williams Landing. The Turkey Burger blends together ground turkey with apples, Dijon, chipotle aioli, tomato, and slaw. The Redemption Burger is a mix of Canadian beef chuck, cheddar, pickles, landing sauce, mixed greens, and tomato. The acclaimed Ontario lamb burger contains labneh, pickled red onions, pickles, feta sauce, and spring mix. As Williams Landing has experimented with their burger selection over the years, they are always seeking to deliver a high quality burger to their patrons. Now, with these three selections, they might have the most diverse collection of burgers in Liberty Village. Sit down, order a burger, and take in the experience.

Hero Burger – 171 East Liberty Street

Though the Hero Burger Liberty Village franchise might not be a first choice when it comes to picking up a burger, for when you need something quick, it’s a reliable choice. There are plenty of customizations, it’s made right then and there with quality beef, and it tastes far more burger-esque than most fast food joints can claim to.

Harvey’s – 75 Hanna Avenue

For something quick, again, Harvey’s is a dependable choice. The burgers are well worth the money, the patties are good quality, and the fries are very enjoyable. If you’re actually in the mood for some fast food burger tastings, forego making the trek to McDonald’s or Burger King. Harvey’s griddle-smashed hamburgers is why this franchise continues to thrive in Liberty Village.

Doesn’t Talking about Burgers make you want one Even More!

Don’t wait. The menu choices have been stated. The game is on. Delve into Liberty Village’s restaurant scene and find the burger that best represents you. Some of these burger sandwiches aren’t fancy but boy, that juicy, freshly flamed, well-seasoned beef sure does hit the spot!
