Design and creative enthusiasts already know that 2018’s Pantone Color of the Year is Ultra Violet #18-3838. It is described as, “a dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade…communicates originality, ingenuity and vision any thinking that points us toward the future”, notes Pantone. We then did some thinking and found some elements around Liberty Village that include ultra violet (or shades close to it).
Who Decides the Color of the Year?
For 2017, the Pantone color of the year was “Greenery” and the year before that it was Rose and Light Blue. Pantone LLC is a subsidiary of X-Rite Incorporated and , “is the world-reknowned authority on color and provide of color systems,” as described on pantone.com. What will they pick for 2019?
Home Decor
Many decorative elements can be found in some of our Liberty Village home decor stores. West Elm has a stunning rug called the “Lucent Rug – Midnight” and ranges in price from $540-$1567 depending on the size.
Casalife offers a way to add some “wow” to any room. They sell the 1357 Recliner which is a high backed, purple leather arm chair. With strong lines and the powerful design, it comes at a cost of $1499.
Flowers
Adding fresh flowers into any space always brightens and lightens the mood. Floral experts at Suzanne Gardiner Flowers, located at the Liberty Market, can help create an arrangement with some ultra violet color. Purple flowers include hydrangeas, violets, irises and hyacinths.
Nail Color
Why not sport ultra violet on your nails? The bright yet intense color looks sharp as a manicure or pedicure. It is a temporary measure to enjoy the color. Visit Cures Studio, Beauty Room, Sparks Salon or X-Nails to get your nails done.
Hair Color
Some celebrities are ahead of the game in sporting purple hair which includes Katy Perry, Demi Lovato and even Mylie Cyrus. While having an entire head of hair dyed in ultra violet may not suit everyone, creating an ombre or lightened version may be quite stylish. Hair stylists at L Studio, Salon Tocci, B Suite Salon and Sparks Salon can help produce a look that suits each individual.
Street Art
Look up and admire the girl and cat mural created by Young Jarus back in 2016 alongside the Liberty Street Cyclery building. The background embraces many shades of purple, including ultra violet. We will never tire of looking at this fantastic piece over and over again. If anyone in the area is interested in ultra violet paint, then the folks at Home Hardware can certainly make it happen.
What will be the Pantone colour for 2019? We will have to wait and find out. But in the meantime, enjoy all that ultra violet has to offer here in Liberty Village.
